Yes, it's supposed to represent their determination to run headlong into the future as they pursue musical perfection.

Their songs are actually very unique and technically sophisticated. No one else can produce this sound, which I found very interesting.

Yes, since they are a bit of an acquired taste. If it weren't for my partner, I would never have discovered them either.
